CalForge Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 August 2026 · Effective: 27 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Atanas Korabov, trading as CalForge, Sofia, Bulgaria (“we”, “us”), for use of the CalForge app. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not, do not use it.

How we handle your data is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

1. CalForge is not medical advice

This is the most important clause here, so it comes first.

CalForge is a food and weight tracking tool. It is not a medical device, it diagnoses and treats nothing, and nothing it shows you is medical, dietary or clinical advice. The calorie targets it calculates come from a standard population formula (Mifflin–St Jeor) applied to figures you type in. They are a general estimate for an average person of your stated height, weight, age, sex and activity level — not a recommendation tailored to you.

Do not use CalForge to manage a medical condition, and do not change how you eat on its numbers alone, without speaking to a doctor or a registered dietitian. That matters especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, have or have had an eating disorder, or have diabetes, kidney or heart disease.

You are responsible for what you choose to eat.

2. Estimates are estimates

Nutrition figures produced from text, voice or photos are generated by AI models and are approximations. On photos, accuracy is typically within roughly 25% of the true value, and it can be worse — on mixed dishes, on food you cannot fully see, on unusual portions. Barcode lookups come from Open Food Facts, a volunteer-maintained public database, which can be incomplete or wrong.

Check anything that matters. Any entry can be edited.

3. Who may use it

You must be at least 18. The app is not intended for anyone younger and we do not knowingly collect their data.

4. Accounts

The app creates an anonymous guest account the first time you open it, so you can try it without signing up. A guest account exists only on the device that created it: uninstall the app, wipe the device or lose it, and that data is gone. We cannot recover it.

Linking an email address or a Google account turns the guest account into a real one, keeps the same data, and lets you sign in on another device. You are responsible for activity under your account.

Meal photos are stored only on your device. They are not backed up to us, do not transfer to a second device, and are lost if you uninstall.

5. Free and paid use

The app calls AI models that cost us money per request, so use is metered as a number of requests across buckets: photo analyses, typed and voice logs, and barcode scans. The allowance for each bucket, and how much of it you have left, is shown in the app.

Allowances differ by tier. A guest account — one you have not registered — receives a small one-off allowance rather than a daily one, so that you can try the app before deciding. Registered free accounts and paid subscriptions receive allowances that reset daily and do not roll over.

Accuracy tiers. Not every request is served by the same model. Photo analyses are labelled in the app as Standard or Best, and the label tells you which was used before you rely on the result. Paid subscriptions include a daily number of Best analyses; free accounts receive Standard, and may earn Best analyses by watching an optional advertisement. We may change which models sit behind each label as models and prices change, but we will not label a result Best unless it was produced by the higher-accuracy model in use at that time.

We state allowances as numbers, not as “unlimited”. Where an allowance is large enough that ordinary use will not reach it, we still publish the figure rather than describing it as unlimited.

We may occasionally grant a one-off top-up when you reach a limit. Such a grant is discretionary and does not increase your allowance or create an entitlement to further grants.

We may adjust allowances as model prices change. If we reduce what a paid subscription includes, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and you may cancel.

Allowances exist so that one account cannot consume everyone else’s capacity. Automating the app, using it other than through the app itself, sharing an account to multiply an allowance, creating accounts repeatedly to obtain further one-off allowances, or otherwise defeating the metering breaches these terms.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Paid subscriptions are sold and billed through Google Play. We never see or handle your card details.

Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)

EU consumer law normally gives 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. For digital services supplied immediately, that right ends once supply begins with your consent — which is what happens when a subscription activates and you begin using the paid allowance. Google presents this at purchase. Nothing here removes a right you hold under Bulgarian or EU consumer law that cannot be waived.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the app working but do not promise uninterrupted service. It depends on your device and connection, Google Play, our hosting provider, and the third-party AI providers the app calls. Any of those can fail or change.

We may apply capacity limits to protect the service. If a paid subscription is unusable for a meaningful period because of something on our side, contact us and we will agree a fair remedy, which may include refunding the affected time.

Features may change and some may be retired. If we withdraw something a paid subscription was substantially bought for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the current period.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use the app unlawfully; submit content you have no right to submit; break, probe or overload the service or its backend; reverse engineer it except where law permits; resell or redistribute access; or use it to build a competing dataset or service.

Requests must come from the app, driven by a person using it for their own food and activity records. Scripted, automated or bulk requests, emulated or modified clients, and any other means of issuing requests faster or in greater volume than a person using the app could, are not permitted. Where we see this, we may rate-limit, suspend or close the account under section 10.

9. Your content

What you log — food entries, weights, notes, photos — stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store it, show it back to you, and send what is necessary to the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy so the app can produce an estimate. We do not sell it and we do not use it to train models.

10. Ending it

You can stop at any time: delete your account in Profile → Delete Account, or uninstall. Deleting the account removes your data permanently and cannot be undone. Cancel any subscription separately in Google Play — deleting the account does not cancel billing.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, warning you first where the breach is not serious. If we close a paid account for something that is not your fault, we refund the unused part of the period.

11. Liability

The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties about fitness for a particular purpose and about the accuracy of AI-generated figures.

We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Bulgarian or EU law — including your statutory consumer rights, which these terms do not affect.

Subject to that, and so far as the law permits, our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €50.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do. If a change materially affects you — particularly anything about payment or what a subscription includes — we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app afterwards means you accept the new terms; if you do not, cancel and stop using it.

13. Law and complaints

These terms are governed by Bulgarian law and the Bulgarian courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, that does not deprive you of the protection of your own country’s mandatory consumer law, nor of the right to bring proceedings there.
